1. Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?

2. If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.
2. "Si pour d`autres je ne suis pas apôtre, je le suis au moins pour vous; car vous êtes le sceau de mon apostolat dans le Seigneur."

3. Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,

4. Have we not power to eat and to drink?

5. Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
5. N`avons-nous pas le droit de mener avec nous une soeur qui soit notre femme, comme font les autres apôtres, et les frères du Seigneur, et Céphas?
5. Moa tsy mahazo mitondra vady izay isan’ny anabavy va izahay, tahaka ny apostoly hafa, sy ny rahalahin’ny Tompo, ary Kefasy?
6. Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?
6. Ou bien, est-ce que moi seul et Barnabas nous n`avons pas le droit de ne point travailler?
6. Sa izaho ihany sy Barnabasy no tsy mahazo mitsahatra tsy miasa?
7. Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
7. Qui jamais fait le service militaire à ses propres frais? Qui est-ce qui plante une vigne, et n`en mange pas le fruit? Qui est-ce qui fait paître un troupeau, et ne se nourrit pas du lait du troupeau?
7. Iza no mandeha miantafika ka mianto-tena? Iza no mamboly tanimboaloboka ka tsy mihinana ny vokatra? Ary iza no miandry ondry aman’osy ka tsy mihinana avy amin’ny rononony?
8. Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?
8. Ces choses que je dis, n`existent-elles que dans les usages des hommes? la loi ne les dit-elle pas aussi?
8. Moa araka ny fihevitry ny olona va no itenenako izany, sa ny lalàna mba milaza izany koa?
9. For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?
9. Car il est écrit dans la loi de Moïse: Tu n`emmuselleras point le boeuf quand il foule le grain. Dieu se met-il en peine des boeufs,
9. Fa voasoratra eo amin’ny lalàn’i Mosesy hoe: “Aza manakombona ny vavan’ny omby mively varimbazaha. Ny omby va no ahin’Andriamanitra?
10. Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
10. ou parle-t-il uniquement à cause de nous? Oui, c`est à cause de nous qu`il a été écrit que celui qui laboure doit labourer avec espérance, et celui qui foule le grain fouler avec l`espérance d`y avoir part.
10. "Sa noho izahay no nanaovana izany teny izany? Tsy isalasalana fa noho izahay no nanoratana izany; koa izay miasa tany dia tokony hiasa amin’ny fanantenana, ary izay mively varimbazaha amin’ny fanantenana dia tokony ho mpiombona amin’ny fanantenany."
11. If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
11. Si nous avons semé parmi vous les biens spirituels, est-ce une grosse affaire si nous moissonnons vos biens temporels.
11. Raha namafy izay zava-panahy ho anareo izahay, dia zavatra lehibe va raha mijinja izay anananareo araka ny nofo kosa izahay?
12. If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
12. "Si d`autres jouissent de ce droit sur vous, n`est-ce pas plutôt à nous d`en jouir? Mais nous n`avons point usé de ce droit; au contraire, nous souffrons tout, afin de ne pas créer d`obstacle à l`Évangile de Christ."
12. Raha ny hafa aza manana izany fahefana izany aminareo, tsy mainka va fa izahay? Kanefa tsy nanampatra izany fahefana izany izahay, fa mihafy amin’ny zavatra rehetra, fandrao hisakana ny filazantsaran’i Kristy.
13. Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
13. Ne savez-vous pas que ceux qui remplissent les fonctions sacrées sont nourris par le temple, que ceux qui servent à l`autel ont part à l`autel?
13. Tsy fantatrareo va fa izay manompo amin’ny zavatra masina dia mihinana ny zavatry ny tempoly, ary izay manompo eo amin’ny alitara dia miombona eo amin’ny alitara?
14. Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
14. De même aussi, le Seigneur a ordonné à ceux qui annoncent l`Évangile de vivre de l`Évangile.
14. Toy izany koa no nandidian’ny Tompo, fa izay mitory filazantsara dia hahazo fivelomana amin’ny filazantsara.
15. But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.
15. "Pour moi, je n`ai usé d`aucun de ces droits, et ce n`est pas afin de les réclamer en ma faveur que j`écris ainsi; car j`aimerais mieux mourir que de me laisser enlever ce sujet de gloire."
15. "Nefa tsy nahavatra izany zavatra izany na dia kely akory aza aho; ary tsy manoratra izany aho mba hanaovana izany amiko; fa aleoko maty toy izay hisy hahafoana ny reharehako."
16. For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
16. Si j`annonce l`Évangile, ce n`est pas pour moi un sujet de gloire, car la nécessité m`en est imposée, et malheur à moi si je n`annonce pas l`Évangile!
16. "Fa na dia mitory ny filazantsara aza aho, dia tsy misy ho reharehako, satria tsy maintsy manao izany; eny, loza ho ahy, raha tsy mitory ny filazantsara aho!"
17. For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.
17. "Si je le fais de bon coeur, j`en ai la récompense; mais si je le fais malgré moi, c`est une charge qui m`est confiée."
17. "Fa raha ny sitrapoko no anaovako izany, dia mahazo valim-pitia aho; fa raha tsy ny sitrapoko kosa, dia natolotra ahy ho andraikitro ny filazantsara."
18. What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.
18. Quelle est donc ma récompense? C`est d`offrir gratuitement l`Évangile que j`annonce, sans user de mon droit de prédicateur de l`Évangile.
18. Inona àry no valim-pitia azoko? Dia izao: raha mitory ny filazantsara aho, dia tsy asiako fandoavam-bola ny filazantsara, mba tsy hanampatra ny fahefako amin’ny filazantsara aho.
19. For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
19. Car, bien que je sois libre à l`égard de tous, je me suis rendu le serviteur de tous, afin de gagner le plus grand nombre.
19. Fa na dia afaka amin’ny olona rehetra aza aho, dia mbola nataoko ho mpanompon’ny olona rehetra ihany ny tenako mba hahazoako maromaro kokoa.
20. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
20. "Avec les Juifs, j`ai été comme Juif, afin de gagner les Juifs; avec ceux qui sont sous la loi, comme sous la loi (quoique je ne sois pas moi-même sous la loi), afin de gagner ceux qui sont sous la loi;"
20. "Tamin’ny Jiosy, dia tonga toy ny Jiosy aho, mba hahazoako ny Jiosy; tamin’izay ambanin’ny lalàna, dia tonga toy izay ambanin’ny lalàna aho, mba hahazoako izay ambanin’ny lalàna;"
21. To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
21. avec ceux qui sont sans loi, comme sans loi (quoique je ne sois point sans la loi de Dieu, étant sous la loi de Christ), afin de gagner ceux qui sont sans loi.
21. Tamin’izay tsy manana lalàna, dia toy izay tsy manana lalàna aho (kanefa tsy mba olona tsy manana lalàna amin’Andriamanitra aho, fa ambanin’ny lalàn’i Kristy), mba ahazoako mamonjy izay tsy manana lalàna.
22. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
22. J`ai été faible avec les faibles, afin de gagner les faibles. Je me suis fait tout à tous, afin d`en sauver de toute manière quelques-uns.
22. "Tamin’ny malemy dia tonga malemy aho, mba hahazoako ny malemy; efa tonga zavatra rehetra aho amin’ny olona rehetra, mba hamonjeko ny sasany na manao ahoana na manao ahoana."
23. And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
23. Je fais tout à cause de l`Évangile, afin d`y avoir part.
23. Ary izany rehetra izany dia ataoko noho ny filazantsara mba ho tonga mpiombona aminareo aho.
24. Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
24. Ne savez-vous pas que ceux qui courent dans le stade courent tous, mais qu`un seul remporte le prix? Courez de manière à le remporter.
24. Tsy fantatrareo va fa izay mihazakazaka eo amin’ny tany fihazakazahana dia samy mihazakazaka avokoa, nefa ny iray ihany no mahazo ny loka? Mihazakazaha toy izany mba hahazoanareo.
25. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
25. "Tous ceux qui combattent s`imposent toute espèce d`abstinences, et ils le font pour obtenir une couronne corruptible; mais nous, faisons-le pour une couronne incorruptible."
25. Ary ny olona rehetra izay miezaka hahazo, dia mahonon-tena amin’ny zavatra rehetra. Kanefa ireny dia mitady satroboninahitra mety ho lò, fa isika ny tsy mety ho lò.
26. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
26. "Moi donc, je cours, non pas comme à l`aventure; je frappe, non pas comme battant l`air."
26. "Raha izaho àry, dia mihazakazaka, nefa tsy toy ny manao kitoatoa; ary mamely totohondry aho, nefa tsy toy ny mamely rivotra;"
27. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
27. Mais je traite durement mon corps et je le tiens assujetti, de peur d`être moi-même rejeté, après avoir prêché aux autres.
